On February 11th and 12th, the Operating Engineers Training Institute of Manitoba Inc. (OETIM) attended the 32nd annual The Safety Conference organized by the Construction Safety Association of Manitoba (CSAM) at the RBC Convention Centre. This two-day event boasts an attendance of over 1,500 participants and allows us to showcase who we are, and what we do, to those working in the construction industry in the province.
At our trade booth, we brought our virtual reality (VR) crane simulator which enabled conference-goers to experience firsthand what it’s like to operate a crane in a safe and controlled environment. The simulator not only generated interest in our various crane courses but also emphasized OETIM’s commitment to staying technologically up to date with our training programs.
Additionally, OETIM had the privilege of having our crane instructor and longtime Local 987 member, Moe Favreau, lead four separate Crane Awareness courses throughout the event. Moe’s expertise and background in the crane industry helped reinforce the critical importance of safety protocols when working with and around cranes. These sessions provided participants with valuable insights about the importance of being more aware of crane operations. This increased knowledge of cranes helps reduce the risk of injuries to everyone on the job site.
Safety on construction sites remains our top priority. OETIM is dedicated to equipping our members with the knowledge, skills, tools, and certifications they need to succeed. We are proud to continue providing exemplary safety training that adheres to the highest industry standards, ensuring our members are always prepared to meet the challenges of the job while maintaining a safe and secure work environment.
